Buenos Aires Lawmakers Condemn Governor's Remarks on Labor Reform

The 'La Libertad Avanza' blocs in the Senate and Chamber of Deputies of the Province of Buenos Aires presented a declaration project this Friday to repudiate the expressions of Governor Axel Kicillof regarding the labor reform, considering that his statements "generate disinformation, uncertainty, and confusion among the population".

Kicillof had stated that it is a "project of Martínez de Hoz during the dictatorship".

"We seek to declare our repudiation of the statements of a governor who does nothing but provoke fear and confusion among the inhabitants, using his gubernatorial authority to discredit a government administration that arrived with the objective of disentangling all State operations that corrupt the true path of work, freedom, and clear rules, a path that is synonymous with growth and prosperity," the legislators expressed in the declaration project.

The document, accessed by the Argentine News Agency, was entered simultaneously into both chambers of the Buenos Aires Legislature.

"The governor's words condense into a message of disqualification, lacking the possibility of a serious and deep discussion as required by the review of current labor legislation and work regimes and agreements," explained the LLA legislators from Buenos Aires.

In this regard, they vindicated the initiative of President Javier Milei and stated that "the proposal by the national government allowed for the opening of a range of discussions around the labor market, highlighting the urgency of reviewing current regulatory frameworks and simplifying the procedures implemented under the precept of an overarching institutional responsibility".

The legislators also pointed out that Kicillof's statements demonstrate "a conduct that deepens political confrontation and discourages the possibility of a serious debate, showing that the provincial ruling party is in a constant electoral campaign, without implementing public policies that improve the quality of life for the people of Buenos Aires".
